Chronoscape does one thing the others don't: it follows the current weather as well as the time of day. That's the reason to choose it. It also lacks plenty that they have, and the pages below say so, including the cases where you should buy theirs instead.
Chronoscape is available now on the Mac App Store. It runs on your Mac today, free to download, so you can compare it with the apps below yourself. It's a newer product than some of these, and they have years of releases behind them. Get it on the Mac App Store and judge for yourself.

Chronoscape vs 24 Hour Wallpaper
The closest app to ours. Both follow your real sunrise and sunset, but 24 Hour Wallpaper stops at the clock — Chronoscape also reads the current weather. They have on-location photography and 100+ locations and we don't, but their current version needs macOS 15 and ours runs on 14. Read the comparison →
